Today I watched a hornet die,
I cried and cried as I watched it writhe.
It shook with the will to stay alive,
It fought the darkness, and then expired.
Coiled up tight as it was born,
Still guarding its soul with its thorn,
I thought of the shell that I have worn,
And for everyone I’ve loved I began to mourn.
Oh father I am tides away,
Oh mother give it one more day,
Dear friends enjoy this strange array,
This has been our wild foray.
I picked him up and said a prayer,
Just so I knew, someone knew, that he’d been there.
How can life pass with out a care,
When magic has vanished into thin air.
